MARDI GRAS
MADNESS
You asked for it-you'll get it. One hangover right into another, sore feet from uncomfortable shoes all in the name of a fabulous gay ball, banged up fingers for grabbing the wrong doubloon, people you will meet and probably never see again.
You got it-Mardi Gras madness. That insane, fantastic time of year we all have been waiting for. That frenzied, craziness that gives us the ability to stand outside of the Grog, Brady's, of Finale II the Sunday before Mardi Gras, watch 3 parades and after it's all over not one person can remember the name of any title floats. But that's not importantonly the amount of beads, trinkets and doubloons are relevant.
It's a time for renewing old acquaintances: friends you won't see again till next year.
How beautiful it is to be gay, expecially this time of year. We've come a long way, Baby. It's bound to be a great onethey always are. You can say a lot about Carnival and use every word out of Websters-it all amounts to the same thinglots of fun.
So the booze will flow and spirits will be high, but God forbid, there is always Wednesday. Gay krewes will be putting costumes to rest for a couple of months, everyone will still be trying to remove makeup, hangovers will seem to linger forever and usually do.
But remember, it was all done in fun, and wasn't it damn well worth it?
A Happy Mardi Gras To All Charlene
